Initiated in 2019, Sunflowers Collection marks the beginning of Alexandre Pontara's visual research and represents the first body of work built upon the artistic language that would later define the identity of Studio A.U.M.A. More than a thematic series, it is an ongoing investigation into the reconstruction of the digital image and its expressive possibilities.
Starting from the pixel and binary code as the smallest units of the digital image, Alexandre Pontara develops a visual language in which portraiture is deconstructed and rebuilt through a new structural system. Graphic bars, fragmentation, digital collage, layered compositions, and elements of graphic art cease to function as purely aesthetic devices and instead become the very architecture of the image. The result is a body of work in which photography, graphic language, and digital art merge into a distinctive visual identity.
The sunflower occupies a central role throughout this research. Positioned over the eyes of the portrayed figures, it establishes a metaphor between the human being and the nature of the flower itself. Just as the sunflower turns toward the light, the gaze remains symbolically covered by its presence, suggesting a continuous search for knowledge, perception, and a deeper understanding of the world. The portrait no longer represents physical appearance alone, but reveals an identity constructed through layers of information, memory, and lived experience.
As an open and evolving body of work, Sunflowers Collection continues to expand through new experiments that further develop this visual language while reaffirming one of the central principles of Alexandre Pontara's artistic practice: the reconstruction of the image from the very essence of the digital image.
A COLEÇÃO QUE DEU ORIGEM À
LINGUAGEM VISUAL DO STUDIO A.UM.A
Iniciada em 2019, Sunflowers Collection marca o início da pesquisa visual desenvolvida por Alexandre Pontara e representa o primeiro conjunto de obras construídas a partir da linguagem artística que, posteriormente, passaria a definir a identidade do Studio A.U.M.A. Mais do que uma coleção temática, trata-se de uma investigação contínua sobre a reconstrução da imagem digital e suas possibilidades expressivas.
Partindo do pixel e do código binário como a menor unidade da imagem digital, Alexandre Pontara desenvolve uma linguagem na qual o retrato é desconstruído para ser reconstruído por meio de uma nova estrutura visual. Barramentos gráficos, fragmentações, sobreposições, colagens digitais e elementos da graphic art deixam de atuar como efeitos estéticos e passam a constituir a própria arquitetura da imagem. O resultado são composições em que fotografia, linguagem gráfica e arte digital se fundem em uma identidade visual própria.
O girassol ocupa um papel central nessa pesquisa. Posicionado sobre os olhos das figuras retratadas, ele estabelece uma metáfora entre o ser humano e a própria natureza da flor. Assim como o girassol orienta-se em direção à luz, o olhar permanece simbolicamente coberto por sua presença, sugerindo uma busca constante pelo conhecimento, pela percepção e pela compreensão do mundo. O retrato deixa de representar apenas uma aparência física e passa a revelar uma identidade construída por camadas de informação, memória e experiência.
Por permanecer aberta a novas experimentações, Sunflowers Collection continua em constante desenvolvimento, incorporando novas obras que expandem essa linguagem visual e reafirmam um dos princípios centrais da produção artística de Alexandre Pontara: a reconstrução do humano a partir da essência da imagem digital.
